Sign-Up - Trial version or Premium

Sign up here to use CASPAR. There are two versions – a free trial version, and a full ‘premium’ version. The premium version has an institutional 12 month site licence, meaning it can be used across an institution for an unlimited number of projects, for up to 12 months. The trial version is limited, but gives you an opportunity to use it in learning and teaching and to see how it could be of benefit to your institution..

Is your Institution already using CASPAR?

Although more than one trial version can be in use at the same institution, it is recommended that users try to share one trial version if at all possible. If your institution has already purchased the premium version, then you should contact the person who set that up in your institution.

How do we get CASPAR?

CASPAR is hosted on our own secure server. When you sign up for either the trial version or the premium version, you will be given a unique web address for you to use. We have decided to host CASPAR ourselves instead of asking people to download copies as it ensures we can easily upgrade CASPAR so everyone is always using the current version. It also avoids tricky installation issues!

Can you explain the limitation of the free trial version?

The trial version has designed to give you a real taste of what CASPAR can offer. 10 members of staff can be involved in creating and running projects, up to five projects in total can be created. Up to 200 students in total can be imported into CASPAR for you to involve in these projects. This version of CASPAR is limited to 90 days operation. Overall, you can use the trial version to create projects and go through all the processes of using CASPAR, and hopefully see its potential enough for your institution to purchase the full version.

What happens to my data at the end of the trial version?

At the end of your 90 day trial, your web address for CASPAR will cease, and access to your data will stop. You may choose to upgrade, in which case the data will be moved across to the premium version. However, this can only happen if your institution has not already signed up for the premium version as there can only be one premium version per institution.

How do I upgrade from the trial version to the premium version?

One trial version can be ‘upgraded’ to premium, and therefore keep all its data intact. Other trial versions operating at your institution will continue until their time limit expires, after which they are gone. There is no further need for trial versions as the premium version is unlimited.
