Marketa joined CEMP as a doctoral researcher in January 2011. Her project, Philosophy of Media Education, explores what media education is, should be for, and how best it can achieve its purposes. She aligns herself with those calling for a better public understanding of media, with her particular interest being in media education for primary school children, across different cultures and nations.
She has experience as a freelance journalist both in Czech magazine/newspaper publishing as well as in promotion and PR for political and non-profit organisations. Marketa holds an MA in Advertising and Marketing Communications from Bournemouth University, and an MA in Marketing Communications from Tomas Bata University in Zlin. She represented Bournemouth University at the Salzburg Academy on Media and Global Change 2011 in Austria, and the Czech Republic at the EU’s European Youth Voice Meeting 2011 in Germany and at the European Commission’s Media Literacy Expert Group Meeting 2011 in Belgium.
