Pete spent many years as Head of Media Studies at Long Road Sixth Form College, Cambridge running one of the largest media departments in the country, before joining CEMP as a doctoral researcher in 2010. His focus is the philosophy of media education, particularly in relation to the OCR Media Studies A level, for which he is Chief Examiner.

He regularly speaks at conferences for both students and teachers. He has contributed to a number of publications and is the author of two books for the BFI on digital video production and music video. He blogs regularly for Media Magazine and tweets as @petesmediablog. He is the current Chair of the Media Education Association and a course tutor on MA Creative & Media Education. Along with Jon Wardle, Pete co-ordinated the Manifesto for Media education project in 2011 and in 2010 was the UK representative on the EU Media Literacy Experts Group.
