Sue Court co-ordinates the Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) initiative across the Media School for the Centre of Excellence in Media Practice, a scheme designed to support the learning of all first year students through regular timetabled sessions run by trained second year students. Sue has been involved with Peer Assisted Learning since it was first introduced to Bournemouth University in 1993 and is passionate about the scheme, which benefits both the first year students and the leaders themselves. Her role includes training and supporting the Media School leaders as well as liaising with tutors. She has published articles on the role of PAL in a creative context and the use of self-disclosure by PAL leaders.
Sue is a communication specialist with seventeen years experience of teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the Media School, along with programme management and pastoral care. Her particular area of interest is student learning; she holds a PGCE in English, Media and Drama from the University of Southampton, an MA in Professional Development in Post-Compulsory Education and a BA in Communication.
