Reflective Practice for Football Coaching
CEMP's Jenny Moon and Julian McDougall are working with the Football Association and AFC Bournemouth to develop new approaches to more reflective coaching and track the impact of reflective coaching on performance.
Impact on the Football Association:
- On coach educators – on their educational processes
- On their coaching practices
- On the initial training elements of coach education
- On others – players, stakeholders, spectators, stakeholders and business interests – the importance of investment in good educational practices in football
- Impact of the potential spread of ideas to other aspects of the game – eg referee education, mentor training
- Longer term impacts of the work on coaches in other sports (see Jenny’s chapter in ‘Advances in Coach Education and Development – from research to practice’, to be published by Routledge).
