Many Level C (Year 1) and international students struggle in their first few weeks of HE level media practice study. The UK-centric nature of the teaching, and the complexity and myriad of acronyms can be a barrier to student engagement and confidence.

UK Media Culture breaks the media industry into 4 themes (Concepts, Institutions, Genres and Texts) and 50 topics (we are regularly adding more). Each topic entry provides the key information and further reading, and gives worldwide examples to help locate the topic in international students' own experience.
